Linking your bank account is the step that turns Pay&Go from an app on your phone into a payment tool you use every day. Once it is done, paying bills, topping up a number, and settling household payments takes a few taps, with no queues and no cash.
The process is quick, but it works best when you are prepared. Pay&Go is fully compliant with Central Bank of Sri Lanka (CBSL) guidelines for digital payments, and a few simple checks keep your account secure and the linking smooth.
Three Things to Check Before You Start
1. You are using your bank-registered mobile number. During linking, your internet connection must come from the mobile number registered with your bank. That can be mobile data from that number, or a hotspot shared from it. If you are unsure which number your bank has on file, your bank's hotline can tell you.
2. You know the NIC number your bank has on record. Whether you hold an old NIC or a new one, the number you enter must match your bank's records.
Steps to Add Your Bank Account
- Open the Pay&Go app and tap More on the home screen.
- Select Cards & Accounts.
- Under Bank Accounts, tap the + (Add) button.
- Choose your bank from the list of JustPay-connected banks.
- Enter your full name.
- Enter your bank-registered NIC number and your bank account number, and double-check every digit. Make sure your phone is on the bank-registered mobile connection at this point.
- Read and accept the Terms and Conditions.
- Your bank will send a One-Time Password (OTP) to your registered mobile number. Enter it in the app to complete verification.
- Once your account is added, close the Pay&Go app and log in again.
That is it. Your bank account is now linked and ready for transactions through Pay&Go.
If Something Does Not Go Through
Most linking issues come down to the same three things: JustPay not yet activated, the wrong mobile connection, or a NIC number that differs from the bank's records. Go back through the checklist above and try again.
